नैनीताल::- प्रसिद्ध पर्यावरणविद् व इतिहासकार प्रो.अजय रावत द्वारा रचित पुस्तक उत्तराखंड की प्राचीनकालीन सभ्यता को समेटे “गलिंप्स ऑफ कल्चरल हिस्ट्री ऑफ देवभूमि उत्तराखंड” में प्रो. अजय सिंह रावत ने इस पुस्तक में उत्तराखंड के इतिहास के साथ ही संस्कृति, काष्टकला, वास्तुकला, स्थापत्यकला, धार्मिक स्थल, व्यंजन आदि का भी समावेश किया गया है। इस पुस्तक में प्रो. रावत ने बताया हैं की उत्तराखंड की प्राचीन सभ्यता यानि पाषाण युग की सभ्यता व संस्कृति आज भी जीवित है। हिंदुवादी शासकों के चलते न हीं मध्यकाल में इस पर प्रतिकूल असर पड़ा और न हीं ब्रिटिश शासन काल में ही यह प्रभावित हुई। ब्रिटिश शासकों ने तो अन्य प्रांतो की तर्ज पर यहां ईसाईयत का प्रचार प्रसार भी अधिक नहीं किया। उन्होंने रूस की साम्राज्यवादी सोच के चलते यहां के लोगों में घुलमिल कर तिब्बत पर नजर रखने की पहल की।
प्रो.रावत का मानना है कि इस रूप में ब्रिटिश शासन काल का इतिहास शायद किसी पुस्तक में नहीं मिलेगा। 1815 में रूस उपनिवेशवाद व साम्राज्यवाद का दौर रहा।
साथ ही इसी दौरान वियाना की संधी व नेपोलियन के पतन के बाद रूस तिब्बत के रास्ते से भारत आना चाहता था। भूमध्य सागर से उसे आनी की मनाही थी। इसीलिए उस दौर में ब्रटिशर्स ने अन्य प्रांतों को तो रेगुलेटिंग प्रोविंस घोषित कर वहां ईसाई धर्म का अत्यधिक प्रचार किया लेकिन उत्तराखंड को नान रेगुलेटिंगक प्रोविंस घोषित किया, और उन्होंने यहां की सांस्कृतिक धरोहरों को बचाने की भी पहल की। जिससे वह यहां घुलमिल कर तिब्बत पर रसिया के प्रभाव पर नजर रख सकें, इस दौरान उन्होंने कोई मंदिर व धार्मिक स्थलों को कोई नुक़सान नहीं पहुंचाया, वर्तमान में नैनीताल में एक ही स्थान पर मंदिर, मस्जिद, चर्च व गुरूद्वारा भी इसी का प्रमाण है।
साथ ही उन्होंने इस पुस्तक में बताया हैं की पाषाण युग से ही यहां की जैव विविधता समृद्ध थी, और आज भी 375 कंदमूल, 189 जंगली फल, 340 धान की प्रजाति, गेहूं की 80, मक्के की 40 प्रजातियां आज भी जीवंत है। पुस्तक में उन्होंने राक शैल्स पेंटिग, मृत भांड (मृत होने के बाद बर्तन को रखने का चलन) समेत अरण्यक संस्कृति आश्रम साधु संतों का जिक्र है। उस समय वानप्रस्त, सन्यास वनों में होते थे। इसमें मंदिर, मस्जिद, गुरूद्वारे समेत गिरजाघरों का भी समावेश है। नात पंत समेत तांत्रिकों, कत्यूरियों की स्थापत्य कला, कुमाऊ का चंद शासन, गढ़वाल में परमार शासन, कुमाऊं के ऐपण के बारे में भी जानकारी दी गई है। इसमें वर्ष में एक दिन रक्षा बंधन पर खुलने वाले तथा 364 दिन नारद की पूजा वाले उत्तरकाशी के बंशीनारायन मंदिर, कोटिबनाल आर्किटेक्चर, मोस्टमानो मंदिर, उल्का देवी मंदिर, पिथौरागढ़ जात यात्रा को भी सम्मिलित किया है।
