नैनीताल ::- 18 दिसंबर को अल्पसंख्यक अधिकार दिवस मनाया जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों के अधिकारों की रक्षा करना और उनके धर्म,भाषा,जाति, संस्कृति,परंपरा आदि से उनकी सुरक्षा को सुनिश्चित करना है। 1992 में जब संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा धार्मिक,भाषाई राष्ट्रीय, या जातीय अल्पसंख्यकों के व्यक्तिगत अधिकारों पर वक्तव्य को अपनाया गया था।


18 दिसंबर 1992 से प्रारंभ हुआ भारत में अल्पसंख्यक कार्य मंत्रालय अल्पसंख्यकों से संबंधित मुद्दों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करता है। अल्पसंख्यक समुदाय के हितों के लिए समग्र नीति के निर्माण, इनकी आयोजना, समन्यव, मूल्यांकन तथा नियामक रूपरेखा तथा नियामक विकास कार्यक्रमों की समीक्षा भी करता है।

भारत विश्व में एक असाधारण राष्ट्र है, जहां विभिन्न धर्मों, जाति, पंथ, भाषाई और संस्कृति के लोग लंबे समय से रह रहे हैं और इसलिए इसे ‘अनेकता में एकता’ वाला देश भी कहा जाता है।जबकि भारतीय संविधान देता है देश के सभी नागरिकों को समान अधिकार।

इसके प्रति जागरुकता फैलाने के लिए प्रत्येक वर्ष 18 दिसंबर को अल्‍पसंख्‍यक अधिकार दिवस मनाया जाता है। भारत में रह रहे अल्‍पसंख्‍यकों की पहचान के लिए कई तरह के उपाय किए गए हैं। देश के संविधान में हर तरह के व्‍यक्ति को समान अधिकार दिए गए हैं। संविधान में सभी तरह के अल्‍पसंख्‍यकों के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए कानूनी प्रावधान भी दिया गया है। ये दिन उन लोगों के अधिकारों की रक्षा के लिए है जो अपनी संस्‍कृति, जाति और समुदाय के बावजूद सामाजिक और आर्थिक रूप से वंचित हैं।।
